Well hold on! You're going to ride a hurricane tonight. You're going to see what you said couldn't be. Blinding flames fluorescent in the sky. I've got to thank you for how sweet it will be. If you could see you when I put out your lights.

A laser beam couldn't break my stride. Who's laughing now, who’s leading the crowd. A tidal wave will drown you with my pride. I had to stay strong and look into my crystal ball. And learn to play along.

Well my someday is now, and what I'd like to say. It was all in fun but I won. Let's go, yes my time has come. You know but you won't show that I got sweet revenge.

You were wrong. You've got to see that it's only just a game. Had to let you know before I go. We're still friends and we'll party just the same. For those I barely knew, and put me down behind my back, I hate to break the news.

My guitar sound REALLY BLOWS! I recorded this for my 8 song demo but I'm not sure when I wrote it. I may have wrote it during Torrod 1. Lyrically this was directed at someone but I can't remember who. Obviously another musician who maybe was slammin me or one of the Torrod bands. Sadly, after 20 years it's kinda' hazy who got the sweet revenge. I'm not really into this type of lyrical "rah, rah, I'm going to make it" but I think it's prety well done. Jeff did a much better job with that theme on Only Fools from Harbiner "the Inevitable". I'm almost positive I layed out the vocal melody pretty meticulously with Jeff. I say meticulously because usually I'm just a tattered road map and he works out most melodies from my lyrics but on this song it was early in our partnership so he wasn't aware he had "hand". Musically I was actually very aware that I was writing these adventurous type songs and needed a change-up so I actually like what I came up with. Just a good four chord, straight beat, driving bass rock song. And had it been recorded by good musicians in a good studio I mighta' had something here but it was recorded by Torrod and it sounds like shit! I like the guitar solo, I exectued an ambitious arrangement with a crap sound- that says something.

I had all but forgotten about this song since I, quite honestly, have not reviewed this material in many, many years. I am almost ashamed to admit that since it is a part of our history. Ok. I am over it. I pretty much sang this song from start to finish as Tom had intended. In the beginning phase of our musical relationship, Tom had mailed me these multi-track recordings of his original music from California. Back in NY, I would receive the tapes, which, I believe had him kind of singing on them to what he had intended as vocal melodies. I would be interested in knowing if those cassette tapes still exist. I should have kept them in or as my arsenal. Anyhow, when Tom arrived to NY, we spent much time in my cabin basement, which was considerably cold, in pre-rehearsal, rehearsal. Sweet Revenge was one of these songs. It is my opinion that this is not one of Tom’s best written songs soup to nuts. I do not recall how it made itself onto the EP but I think it had something to do with simplicity. Andy and myself may have played a role in this which, in hindsight, seems ironic as I have just explained that I do not really care for this song. My how times and opinions change. Not quite sure who or what Tom was writing about. Judging by the content, hopefully not me. This is definitely not one of my prouder moments vocally.

Tom's Rebuttle: OMG!!! I completely forgot about me singing those arrangements for you. You just unlocked 20 years of forgetten memories. Please... lock it back up. The song was not about you but probably someone who may have been jealous that we were in a band together. And come-on Jeff, this is you at your best :)
