What makes him bow before the one he worships? I often wonder what they really hear. And when you disobey- The walls around they all come crashing down on you. And does the crime deserve the punishment.

And every time you wander off and play, what the hell were you thinking?

No work, no school, no chores to do. Ah, the life on easy street. All fun and play no bills to pay there's food and water at your feet.

It's a drag riding on the potty train. I hate the droppings dripping from my nose. And every time I wander- The smell of bitch in heat comes oozing down on me. And now I'm lost again what will I do. And every time I wander off and play, what the hell was I thinking?

Play dead, roll over, sit and speak. Take a bath because I wreak. Get some shots and clip my nails. Pull some burdocks off my tail. What the hell was I thinking?

Here's another song we played out with "End on reality" and it was one that could go over easily without the need for the tech extra's. Our old Archivon '94 bass player Bob Heath use to call people Dog Water which must have amused Jeff because he wrote lyrics with the theme years later. The idea came to him because the DJ spin sounds in the music sound like a dog licking water. Give Jeff an inch and he'll take a mile. Again he forgot the lyrics over time but eventually remembered them and the recording was pretty smooth. We argued a bit over the chorus as he wanted to change the melody. I grudgingly worked with him but I stuck in the original at the very end of the song to change things up. Compromise always makes the best stuff but I must admit he was more right that me. The original version had a lead guitar intro but he was all over cutting that out back in the EOR days and coming in quick as the song does now. I miss the flow of the intro but it's fresh the way it is. It was the first song we recorded for this CD which can be said was the birth of all distortion vocals, all the time. It's also the only song with any real vocal harmony. I find that curious but it's just the way it worked out and along with the consistency in the vocal distortion all the songs have a "now" place though they were scattered about in our history.

I miss Bob Heath. He was a cool cat with much talent and a great sense of humor! The words he spoke stuck with me. Dogwater stuck to me! I use the term every day in some form or other, no lie. A couple of people have actually nick-named me Dogwater. Of course, I had to apply the word in song. It is my belief that my short story about a dog's life prompted Tom to write his book about the dogs of Sherburne. Perhaps not. I just like to steal Tom's thunder any chance I get. Seriously though, I really enjoyed writing and recording Dogwater. Performing it live was a different story. People either liked it or just didn't get it. In my opinion, it wasn't an energetic song to perform. Oh, by the way, I just fell in love with the vocal distortion thing throughout this whole recording. It adds a cool element to dryness!

Tom's Rebuttle: Sorry Jeff, spite towards my wife inspired my novel, The Dogs of Sherburne. Nice try though.
