Hell hath no fury.
Welcome to life instant Psychopath loser.
Burning with desire, thrusting energy creating electricity.
A hard way of living. There is no good way to die remember.
Don't look to me for comfort. Cry me a river.
No one wins... That's Life.

Soar with a vengeance.
Mark my words, someday you'll take my advice.
But by then you'll be sorry 'cause it's too late for you.
A good day for living. There is no hard way to die remember.
Don't look to me for comfort. Cry me a river.
No one wins... That's Life.

It's a pain in my ass.
This passion within me you see, it's the only way I know.
So leave me be. Eat my dust!

Written and first recorded in 1994 on the Archivon '94 demo and my appreciation of this song is documented in my liner notes for the '94 version. Very little was changed from the orignal demo. The biggest change was adding some techno "whips" in the drum tracks. I thought it needed that because it's all drum machine now where as back then our drummer Brain Blaine was just ferocious on that demo and I really wasn't going to capture that feel so I may as well make it obvious it's a more techno feel... just slighly anyway. The song has some of my alltime favorite chord progrssions in the verse which took me days to relearn including having to watch old videos. All the chords are similar with virtually the same root notes but the minor variations I played off each root note were long forgetten and never duplicated in other songs. On the original guitar solo I was able to get some really cool string bends without the use of a whammy bar but I used the bar on this version and actually did 2 solo tracks intertwined over each other which I thought was a good example of using the sometimes considered "outdated" whammy bar with a modern approach. I thought Jeff did an amazing job capturing the psycho dual vibe even topping his '94 performance. I'll be interested to read his liner notes because I'm not sure he's fully on board with openining the CD with this track. I think once he heard the intro piece L'Chiam he got more of what I was trying to achieve but towards the end of this project I am starting to understand a little his thinking. I just want to open with a crushing metal track but he's correct in that it's not refelective of our latest writting. I'm not sure if the recording/mix is a good as some of the other songs and that does concern me but I think it's just good enough to open the album even though the guitars are a bit thin. Bottom line is that this track is just too aggressive for most people but as long as it's exectuted as intended I have no problem with that because that was the intent of the song.

"Welcome to life".

Welcome to the madness that I experience in extreme cases. Okay, so I used to have some aggressive tendencies lyrically and vocally. Sometimes I still do. But not as frequent as 1994 for crying out loud!

Yes Tom, I am going to allude to the age of this song. And yes Tom, I will also allude to everything you thought I would say. So just read Tom's liner notes for re-iteration. I understand a little better Tom's madness for this song being re-instated with this lineup because of its aggressive hardcore nature which, really never fully received the recognition and attention that it deserved. The intro made it work a little better...but...as Tom will tell you, I have my reservations about bringing the older pieces out of the "chest in the attic" because for one, we already did that and secondly, the writing which we have done for this new collection, is extremely different than the classics from our past. Lastly, I was bored to tears with singing these dust covered pieces.

Don't get me wrong...they have their place in time and I love them...but re-recording them made me ugly and made them feel like relics by the time we were done with them...argh...THANK GOD!! Buuuuut... I convinced Tom to do something with one of them which he totally amazed me with upon him playing it back to me after secretly recording it upon my suggestion. I will not spoil it for the audience as it will be a topic when we arrive to the liner notes for that piece. But I will tell you that I about sh!t myself with joy as I listened. We are currently working on and recording that song in the studio this evening (29 July 2008). I'm excited.

Okay, back to TL...it's over. I only hope that anyone listening to the CD that isn't into the aggressive thing can get past the song to listen to the variety of other pieces.
