Music: Mody, Words: Mody

Behemoth: Prediction... Pain.
Extremist: Prediction... Pain.
Concealist: Prediction... Pain.

Redeemers: Prediction... Pain.
Free Thinkers: Prediction... Pain.
Push Fingers: Prediction... Pain.

Why can't God bring Justice with swift and mighty hand?
Mortals try eye for eye, might kill us all instead.

Sadist: Prediction... Pain.
Rapist: Prediction... Pain.
Escapist: Prediction... Pain.

Gavel: Prediction... Pain.
Needle: Prediction... Pain.
Peaceful: Prediction... Pain.

You're guilty when you're living, We're guily when your dead.
Often wrong pretending to know the judgement in God's head.

Just children cast in the rain. Just Fools playing with pain.

Trauma: Prediction... Pain.
Drama: Prediction... Pain.
Coma: Prediction... Pain.

Realist: Prediction... Pain.
Machinist: Prediction... Pain.
Extinguish: Prediction... Pain.

Now closer to the light, not teatherd by our string.
Corrupted in moral satisfaction that playing God can bring.

I think it ws Michelangelo that said the sculptures he creates are already in the stone, he just needs to bring them out. Maybe Michelangelo can help me bring this song out properly because all these cool elements are there I just couldn't find the right recording tones and overall mix. It's a song of contradictions in that it was written as a quick hit piece to try and mimic the style of the '94 songs like That's Life and Universal Holocaust and to "fill up" space between the more eclectic pieces that were being written. However, dig deeper into this song past the production and blatant double kick presentation and there is some damn brilliant writting, arrangement and sounds going on. "Prediction... Pain" was a phrase my cousin use to use, probably everytime he was ready to shoot down one of my planes in the classic Atari video game cartridge one. I also submitted it as a band name in our previous band before we settled on End on reality. It's about playing God and the consequences which can be disasterous. But what I love about my lyrics is that each verse (I think they're verses) tells it's story in only 6(ish) words. Example: "Behemoth, extremeist, concealist", this says hey, we got a terrorist here. "Redeemers, freethinkers, push fingers", this says the good guys are coming but we had to drop the bomb on you. And the chorus goes on to explain the potential consequences of that. Each of the three verses is a different story/consequence. Musically I just crammed a bunch of stuff together and it was all written first on drum machine so I had no idea where the music might go but the bones flowed together. I think the two things that set it up well are the "wah" guitar textured throughout the song and the highly distorted bass tone in the break section, though it's a guitar run through a bass simulator. As for the singing- I did a lot if I didn't do any. What I mean is that I did a lot of parts but they weren't singing. Any voices that required no talent was me and that was all the verse parts and any parts that say "pain" in them. The "prediction pain" sampling I wanted to incorportae because I used it a few times on "Smash Hits" and I wanted that continuity from the last album. I layed down tracks for the chorus but it was really bad. Jeff came up with the softer yet eerie approach and what a great contrast and a much needed contribution to the piece. One of the prouder moments of the piece for myself was the little vocal harmony tag after the lead guitar section. Not that it was some complicated harmony but just a delicate segement to want to work in this heavy, crazy song and in my head I knew the appropriate harmony to use to make it work. Jeff sang it but he feels the modulation effect on the vocals shifts it out of key a touch. Overall it's a mad, frantic, fun crazy piece that actually has some stiff points to make lyrically and asks some long debated questions of God. I wasn't able to clear off all the excess stone and dirt but I certainly can see and appreciate the piece I was trying to perfect.

Great idea. But I don't think that it will get across in my opinion. I'm not just saying that because I only have a cameo part. The song just doesn't strike me as one that people will find catchy enough to keep them entertained. It is my least favorite of this collection which I only review on rare occasions. Nonetheless...my opinion of the lyrical content and structure is high. I think Tom is an incredible songwriter and I really dig what he is expressing here. Perhaps if he changes the music, puts these lyrics to it and let’s me sing it...just kidding Tom. Not much else to say about it so I guess I am only writing filler words here... Prediction...Pain
