A word to the wise, you can not disguise what you are inside as I study you. The movements you make, the breathes that you take, I'll catch every step predicting the next.

I slowly match your vibrations. I move as you move, a mirror to open your soul. You liken to my anticipations. Feeling comfort and ease, you show me what I want to see.

Detector of lies unmasking your self reservations. Covertly inside, place down your guard don't deceive. Detector of Lies. Covertly inside.

With ease I now manipulate your verbal lip responses. You're kinesthetic I sense. Almost touching and feeling my words I’ve spoke unto you. Oh, how I master neural linguistics.

We all try to guard our deceptions. Willful or not we don't always say what me mean. I break down the walls to communication. Feeling comfort and ease you show me just what I need.

As stiff as I thought this sounded in the studio on Archivon '93- it was full of life and energy live. It was a very complex piece to play live but never seemed to unerve me like Voice From The Past. Brian had a lot of drumming to do on this song and I must have had alot of confidence in him because again, this song never concerned me. Actually, the only time I flubbed this song was in 1991 when we played it live with the drum machine. In future shows we use to break in the middle of the song into a supe'd up version of Kiss' God of Thunder then kick back into Detector of Lies. I sing harmony vocals and have the guitar solo on this one.

This was just a kick ass song to do live. It had energy when performing it in front of people. I used some different vocal techniques to inspire myself to like the song as I didn't really care for it when Tom first presented it to me. I just wasn't hearing it right. The song grew on me and the more we played it live the more it grew on me. I think we played it live at a major area battle of the bands and IT KICKED ASS! We were the kings for a night! I remember connecting with that one in particular. A very cool thing happened by accident on this song when we were playing at this show you are currently listening to. After the m8 section I come in, after a whisper like vocal part, with "Detector of lies" and carry it out. If you listen close, you can hear a Harley in the background start up and as I am holding out  a note, the Harley takes off at the exact moment it needs to coincide with the song. Now THAT is PURE chance. Brian did a fantastic job with his role. All of the guys were solid. Gotta love it!
